A former cricketer has identified the 24-year-old as the future captain of Team India

Rohit Sharma is currently the leading player for India across formats in international cricket. However, he is approaching the end of his career, and several contenders could replace the legendary cricketer. Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya have previously led India, and they are currently the front-runners. Former India player Harbhajan Singh is backing Shubman Gill.

Gill is currently leading the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League 2024. He was assigned the role following Hardik Pandya's return to the Mumbai Indians ahead of the 17th season.

Harbhajan Singh stated:

“Shubman Gill is the future Indian captain. He is a class act and can lead the national team to success. Gill has done well as GT captain in this season of the tournament.”

In his first season, Gujarat has not enjoyed the level of success that was anticipated. Despite some competitive performances, but his batting has not been as strong as it could have been. His performance will be evaluated once the season has concluded.

Meanwhile, Gill must demonstrate a greater level of consistency to secure a spot on the Men in Blue for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. He is currently competing with Yashasvi Jaiswal for the opening batting position.
