A former India player has criticised Harsha Bhogle for his comments on Chennai Super Kings' performance, referring to him as a 'Mumbai freak'

Harsha Bhogle's comments on social media often lead to debate and backlash for the renowned commentator. He faced massive flak for highlighting Virat Kohli's strike rate in T20 cricket. Former India player Laxman Sivaramakrishnan has criticised Bhogle for tweeting about Chennai Super Kings' batting performance against Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League 2024.

Bhogle felt that the defending champions were outplayed as CSK posted 206 for the loss of 20 overs:

“They probably were a bit short but in the middle overs, #CSK were brilliant. Once again, they have made the most of their resources. Truly admirable. This is a performance worthy of a champion team.” 

Laxman, who played for India and Tamil Nadu, did not appreciate the comment and made serious allegations against Harsha.

Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 69 off 40, Shivam Dube scored 66 off 38, and MS Dhoni scored 20 off 4, leading the scoring chart for the Chennai-based franchise.

Rohit Sharma was instrumental for Mumbai, slamming his second IPL hundred. However, with no support from the other batsmen, his knock of 105 not out went in vain.

For the five-time champions, Matheesha Pathirana took four wickets.
