A valid point made by a former player
Virat Kohli's dismissal by a high full toss from Harshit Rana is still in the news. The veteran was fined 50 per cent of his match fee for arguing and abusing the umpires. Kohli wasn't out in his own eyes, but the on-field umpire and third umpire didn't give him the verdict. He scored 18 runs off 7 balls, including 2 sixes and 1 four.
Navjot Singh Sidhu, Harbhajan Singh, Varun Aaron, and Mohammad Kaif slammed the umpires for failing to give it out. Virat and his former Indian counterparts were proved wrong.
Explaining the controversial decision, Irfan Pathan, who was sure Kohli was out, said:
“Harshit bowled a slower delivery, which dipped. Kohli was standing outside the crease and the rules are pretty clear. If a batter stands outside the crease, it doesn’t mean the waist height will be measured from that point. The waist height is taken from the crease.”
Meanwhile, KKR won by 1 run to record their fifth win of the season. They are second in the points table.
RCB, on the other hand, are out of the play-off race after losing 7 games and winning just 1.
