Aakash Chopra wants Dravid and Rohit to be chosen as the star all-rounder for the T20 Cricket World Cup

Shivam Dube’s outstanding performances for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024 have contributed to growing support for his inclusion in India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. In nine innings, the all-rounder amassed 350 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 172.41, garnering praise from cricket pundits and fans alike. As the announcement of the national team draws near, there is mounting anticipation as to whether Dube’s exceptional form in the IPL will earn him a spot.

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has publicly expressed his support for Dube, advocating for his inclusion in the 15-member squad and a spot in the starting XI:

“The kid’s terrific and explosive playing style warrants not only his selection in the T20 World Cup squad but also his inclusion in the starting XI.” 

Former Indian batter Mohammad Kaif conducted an assessment of Dube’s development as a player in this year’s IPL. He noted the all-rounder’s impressive progress in overcoming his weaknesses.

It is important to recognise that each batter has a weak point. He was susceptible to the bouncer, or you may have bowled wider lines to trap him. Nevertheless, he has consistently demonstrated improvement over time. He is now capable of hitting sixes and pulls over cover. Additionally, Kaif noted that Dube has developed the ability to hit powerful shots down the ground.

Kaif also lauded Dube's versatility and strength, noting that he could effortlessly dispatch deliveries to any part of the ground.
