Afghanistan Adds Atal and Ahmad for Bangladesh ODIs

Afghanistan has bolstered its squad for the ODI series against Bangladesh by including opening batsman Sediqullah Atal and left-arm wrist spinner Noor Ahmad. This announcement comes after their successful series win against South Africa in Sharjah last month. The upcoming series, scheduled from November 6 to 11, will feature three matches at the same venue.

Atal, who has already represented Afghanistan in six T20Is, has been in exceptional form, showcasing his skills in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup with notable scores of 52, 95 not out, and 83. Meanwhile, Noor Ahmad returns to the lineup following an impressive performance in the Caribbean Premier League, where he was honoured as the Player of the Series for his 22 wickets with St Lucia Kings.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board's chief selector, Ahmad Shah Sulimankhil, confirmed that Ibrahim Zadran is still recovering from ankle surgery, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman remains sidelined due to a hand injury. Despite these challenges, the inclusion of Atal and Ahmad reflects the team's commitment to strengthen its roster.

These ODIs will not only serve as crucial matches against Bangladesh but also act as essential preparation for Afghanistan as they look forward to the Champions Trophy in February 2025. The team aims to build on their recent successes and demonstrate their growing prowess on the international stage.
