After Receiving A 5 Crore Pick From The RCB, Yash Dayal Responds To Criticism

After Yash Dayal was signed by RCB in the IPL 2024 auction for INR 5 crore, he was subjected to intense trolling on social media.

Indian pacer Yash Dayal, who is uncapped, saved the day for Royal Challengers Bengaluru by defeating the Chennai Super Kings and securing a ticket in the IPL 2024 playoffs. Dayal received praise for his bowling in the last over from RCB captain Faf du Plessis, who dedicated his Player of the Match award to the left-arm pacer. Even though it was a significant victory, Dayal has faced setbacks since joining the Bengaluru team at the auction last year. Dayal spoke out about the criticism he received after joining RCB following the victory over CSK.

"When I was picked in RCB. I faced a lot of criticism and questioning in my place in the team. My mindset was only, that I didn't want to prove people wrong, I just had to prove myself. RCB told me from day 1 that I'm an important player for them. They've backed me to the core, the results you're seeing now are due to their backing and trust in me".

Speaking about the game, Dayal disclosed that after having a strategic conversation with Du Plessis and Dinesh Karthik, the plan changed and he was scheduled to bowl the 20th over instead.

The bowler acknowledged that he was anxious as well, particularly following the five-sixes incident against Rinku Singh in the previous year.

"After what happened to me last time [against KKR in 2023], there was nervousness," Dayal stated after the game. "When I got hit off that first ball, I subconsciously went back to that place. But I have done well in the past, I have done well after that, so all that was running through my mind was to deliver a good ball. I didn't want to look at the scoreboard or the result. I just wanted to bowl well. I was confident with my execution."
