Delhi Capitals have lost their last two matches in the 2024 Indian Premier League against Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Despite being in a good position, they surrendered the advantage. The Rishabh Pant-led team will face Chennai Super Kings in their next match on March 31. Coach Ponting has warned the defending champions that Delhi Capitals will play aggressively when they take on their rivals in Vizag.
Ponting stated that Delhi lost the two games by playing bad cricket in phases.
DC captain Rishabh Pant, who returned to the field after 15 months, is struggling to time the ball. Ponting mentioned that the team discussed the areas they lacked in the first two games. He believed that Delhi could have won both games but failed to cross the line:
“We had conversations about the performances and what we should do as a team. The players need to step up. We have played good and bad cricket. The team needs good cricket on a consistent basis over 40 overs. We could have won both games. Ishant Sharma getting injured in the first game impacted us.”
Ponting stated that the IPL is a lengthy tournament, and Delhi still has an opportunity to regain their form.
