Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan's cricket team, shared a heart warming moment with a young fan during the T20 World Cup matches against India and Canada at the Nassau County Cricket Stadium in New York. Amidst the intense atmosphere of the games, Babar noticed the boy's tears during the national anthem and tried to console him. However, instead of calming down, the boy's tears of joy intensified, much to Babar's surprise.
Recalling the encounter, Babar mentioned meeting the boy during the India vs Pakistan match, where the child approached him in tears. Concerned, Babar inquired if something had upset him, only to discover that he was simply overwhelmed with emotion as a devoted fan. The same scene repeated itself during the match against Canada, with the boy once again displaying tears of excitement while standing in line.
Moved by the boy's fervent support, Babar decided to gift him something memorable as a token of appreciation. Offering his gloves, he hoped to make the young fan happy. However, instead of alleviating the boy's emotions, the gesture caused even more tears of joy. Despite his initial concern, Babar assured the boy not to worry and even agreed to sign the gloves, which further delighted him.
Reflecting on the incident, Babar expressed relief over Pakistan's first victory in the T20 World Cup, emphasising the significance of the win following previous defeats against the USA and India. Despite facing challenges during their chase against Canada, Babar credited the team's bowling performance and highlighted the importance of starting strong in the game's initial overs.
