Taskin Ahmed, the Bangladesh star pacer, has spoken out about the incident in which he overslept and missed the team bus before a crucial T20 World Cup match against India. Taskin clarified that there was no disciplinary action taken against him and that he was dropped from the match due to team combination reasons, not his late arrival.
Despite being late, Taskin managed to reach the ground before the toss, arriving around 30-40 minutes before the start. He explained, "I missed the team bus, which left the hotel at 8.35 am. I left for the ground at 8.43 am and almost reached the bus. But I wasn't going to play anyway, so it wasn't the reason for not being selected."
Former captain Shakib Al Hasan also commented on the situation, stating that the team has rules for buses leaving on time and Taskin's late arrival made it challenging for him to be picked. Shakib mentioned that Taskin apologised to the team, and it was taken as an unintentional mistake that ended there.
Taskin rejoined the playing XI in Bangladesh's next game against Afghanistan on June 24, with the Bangladesh Cricket Board president confirming that no fine was imposed on him. The incident was handled internally and resolved amicably.
