Bryce sisters will lead Scotland Team

Scotland will make their debut at the Women's T20 World Cup in 2024, having secured a spot in the main event by finishing as runners-up in the qualifier tournament earlier this year. All-rounder Kathryn Bryce has been appointed as captain, with her sister, wicketkeeper Sarah Bryce, serving as vice-captain for the tournament in the UAE.

Scotland's squad is rich in all-rounder talent, featuring not only Kathryn but also Priyanaz Chatterji, Katherine Fraser, and Megan McColl. Head coach Craig Wallace praised the team's composition, stating, "The make-up and balance of this squad is outstanding. We've got match-winners from start to finish, which I believe is a significant change during my time with the team. Every player has been delivering key performances, contributing consistently throughout the squad."

The team qualified for the T20 World Cup by finishing second to Sri Lanka in the qualifiers held in the UAE earlier this year. Leading up to the tournament, Scotland showcased their capabilities in the Netherlands, where they participated in a tri-series against the host nation and Papua New Guinea, winning five out of six matches.

Wallace noted, "In the recent series in the Netherlands, our performance was strong, and we have depth in our squad, with several players not selected still showing impressive form all year round. It was rewarding to have positive discussions about player selections based on their hard work."

Of the 15 players from the qualifier, 13 will be part of the T20 World Cup squad. Off-spinner Olivia Bell and former captain Abbi Aitken-Drummond, both of whom excelled in the Netherlands, have also earned their spots.

Scotland finds themselves in Group B alongside England, Bangladesh, South Africa, and the West Indies. The team will travel to the UAE in mid-September for a training camp, where they'll also play warm-up matches against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Their tournament opener is scheduled against Bangladesh on October 3.

Scotland's Squad for the Women's T20 World Cup 2024: Kathryn Bryce (captain), Sarah Bryce (wicketkeeper, vice-captain), Lorna Jack-Brown, Abbi Aitken-Drummond, Abtaha Maqsood, Saskia Horley, Chloe Abel, Priyanaz Chatterji, Megan McColl, Darcey Carter, Ailsa Lister, Hannah Rainey, Rachel Slater, Katherine Fraser, Olivia Bell.
