Buchi Babu is one of India's oldest four-day cricket events

India's middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer is set to participate in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament, representing Mumbai in the second round of the competition. The tournament, one of India's oldest four-day cricket events, is scheduled to take place across four venues in Tamil Nadu from August 15 to September 11.

Iyer will join Mumbai for their match against Jammu and Kashmir, scheduled from August 27 to 30 in Coimbatore. This appearance will be crucial as he gears up for India's upcoming Test series against Bangladesh. It's also been confirmed that Suryakumar Yadav, India's T20I captain, will participate in the tournament, aiming to secure a spot in the Test team by playing for Mumbai.

MCA joint secretary Deepak Patil announced, "Shreyas Iyer will play for Mumbai at the Buchi Babu Invitational tournament organised by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. He will be playing vs Jammu & Kashmir from 27th August at Coimbatore."
