By taking Virat Kohli's wicket, the LSG spinner has joined Jasprit Bumrah in the elite club

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) secured their second consecutive victory in the Indian Premier League 2024 by defeating the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by 28 runs. At the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, all eyes were on Virat Kohli as he became the first player to play 100 T20 matches at a single venue. Kohli's innings was cut short, however, when he was dismissed for 22 off 16 balls by young spinner M Siddharth. Siddharth claimed the prized wicket of the former RCB captain.

M Siddharth made history by taking Virat Kohli as his first IPL wicket. The prized scalp came after Kohli and Faf du Plessis had put on an opening stand of 40 runs for RCB in their match against LSG. The breakthrough made Siddharth only the 10th bowler to claim Kohli's first scalp in the tournament. He also joined the elite club. He became the sixth Indian bowler and fourth spinner to achieve this rare feat in IPL history.

This is the list of bowlers who took Virat Kohli's wicket for the first time:

  • Ashok Dinda
  • Ashish Nehra
  • Albie Morkel
  • Chaitanya Nanda
  • Doug Bracewell
  • Jasprit Bumrah
  • Mitchell Mcclenaghhan
  • Harpreet Brar
  • Dewald Brevis
  • M Siddharth

After the match, the Tamil Nadu spinner revealed that it was his dream to take Virat Kohli's wicket. He also revealed his strategy of keeping things simple, concentrating on his strengths, and bowling the right lengths.

Following the match, LSG's head coach, Justin Langer, revealed that upon meeting M Siddharth in the dressing room, he immediately asked if he could dismiss Virat Kohli for them. Langer was full of praise for Siddharth's commitment to his word.
