Former West Indies captain Chris Gayle believes that Virat Kohli has the fitness and ability to play all formats of international cricket for many more years. Gayle, a close friend of the star India batter and former Royal Challengers Bengaluru player, made this statement despite growing concerns over workload.
It is worth noting that Kohli has played only two T20Is in the last 14 months. Virat and Rohit Sharma were part of the T20I squad for the three-match series against Afghanistan in January this year. While Rohit has been confirmed as the captain for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Kohli’s position is under scrutiny.
Chris Gayle believes Kohli has been impressive in all formats of the game. “Virat is still going strong and is likely to play for many more years for the Indian team,” Chris Gayle told Cricbuzz.
Chris Gayle said it is a great honour for him to be compared to Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar.
In IPL 2024, Virat Kohli will be eager to top the batting charts for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He has scored 7263 runs in 237 matches in the tournament.
