The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 Trophy Tour was launched at the Empire State Building in New York. Chris Gayle, a two-time champion, and USA star Ali Khan illuminated the iconic skyscraper as fans eagerly anticipate the biggest global T20 cricket event ever.
The Trophy Tour was launched at the Empire State Building in an official ceremony. Chris Gayle, also known as the 'Universe Boss', had the honour of lighting up New York's most iconic building in the navy and magenta colours of the event by pulling the lever down. The ICC Men's T20 World Cup Trophy, the prize all 20 teams will be competing for across the West Indies and USA from 1-29 June, was sitting atop the 381-metre skyscraper.
More than 3 million ticket applications were received through the public ballot. Additional tickets have been released for 51 of the 55 matches, including matches where allocations were previously exhausted.
In the West Indies, tickets are now available for matches at all six venues, including group stage, Super 8, and semi-final matches, to ensure as many fans as possible can attend. Fans can create an account and purchase tickets now at tickets.t20worldcup.com.
This event will be the first ICC World Cup held in the USA. Eight matches will take place at the new 34,000-capacity stadium in Nassau County, New York. Additionally, four fixtures will be hosted at each of the newly renovated existing venues: Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Dallas and Broward County Stadium in Lauderhill.
The West Indies, who are co-hosts, have a strong T20 cricket history, having won the T20 World Cup twice. Matches will be held in popular Caribbean tourist destinations, including Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago.
The 'Out of this World' Trophy Tour will visit iconic sporting teams and stadia, famous landmarks, and legendary cricketers in 15 countries across four continents. Fans will also have the chance to catch a glimpse of T20 cricket's biggest global prize. The Trophy will visit all host venues across the West Indies and USA, as well as emerging Americas cricket countries Argentina, Brazil, and Canada.
