India all-rounder Shardul Thakur is excited to learn from Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni, whom he considers one of the greatest cricketers ever. The defending champions will face Royal Challengers Bangalore in the opening match of IPL 2024 at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai on March 22.
Shardul was released by Kolkata Knight Riders but found a new franchise in CSK. After Mumbai's victory in the Ranji Trophy, Shardul expressed his eagerness to meet Dhoni. He was bought by CSK for INR 4 crore in the mini-auction.
Shardul Thakur said:
“I don’t have a plan for IPL. Dhoni Sahab is there, and he is one the greatest cricketers ever to play the game. I will learn a lot from him and how he gets performance out of players. I have played him in the past as well.”
Shardul stated that he would maintain the momentum gained from winning the Rani Trophy final. Mumbai clinched their 42nd title by defeating Vidarbha by 169 runs.
Thakur played for CSK from 2018 to 2021 before moving to Delhi Capitals. He was later traded to Kolkata Knight Riders. His most successful season was in 2021 when he took 21 wickets in 16 matches under the captaincy of MS Dhoni.
