Current ongoing civil unrest puts in danger the Test series in Pakistan

The upcoming two-Test series between Bangladesh and Pakistan, set to start on August 21 in Rawalpindi, is now in doubt due to the ongoing civil unrest in Bangladesh. The situation worsened following former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's resignation and departure from the country. The series includes matches in Rawalpindi (August 21-25) and Karachi (August 30-September 3), but travelling may be problematic under the current conditions.

The Bangladesh A team’s tour, including former Test captain Mominul Haque, is also at risk. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has proposed to host the Bangladesh Test team in Rawalpindi ahead of the matches and offer training facilities, but they have yet to receive a response from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

The BCB has delayed the arrival of their A team by 48 hours, raising concerns about the senior series. Reports of attacks on the homes of some senior Bangladeshi players have further complicated the situation. The A team's four-day game was set to start on August 11, and the senior team's arrival was scheduled for August 17.

The PCB source noted that maintaining communication with the BCB has been challenging, especially with the BCB president having left the country, disrupting normal board operations.
