Dale Steyn to coach Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024

Dale Steyn will not be part of Sunrisers Hyderbad's coaching team in the 2024 IPL as he has asked for a break this year, according to Cricbuzz. He is expected to return in 2025.

The 40-year-old legendary pacer has informed the management that he will not be available for selection this year. The 2016 champions are looking for a new bowling coach.

The onus is now on head coach Daniel Vettori to find a suitable candidate. Steyn has had stints with Deccan Chargers, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. He has been associated with SRH as their bowling coach since 2022. He played an instrumental role in the emergence of Umran Malik.

In the meantime, the Orange Army are likely to name Pat Cummins as their captain for the upcoming season. He was bought for INR 20.5 crore at the last auction in Dubai. Aiden Markram has led the side for the past two seasons. Despite leading SunRisers Eastern Cape to their second successive SA20 title, Markram is likely to be dropped from the SRH captaincy in the IPL.
