Rahul Dravid might become Kolkata Knight Riders Coach in IPL

With Gautam Gambhir set to become India's new head coach, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are preparing to fill the void left by Gambhir, who played a crucial role as their mentor during their IPL 2024 title-winning campaign.

Reports suggest that Rahul Dravid has emerged as a top candidate to replace Gambhir at KKR. Dravid, who recently stepped down as India's head coach after their T20 World Cup win, is reportedly being considered by several IPL franchises for coaching or mentoring roles ahead of the 2025 season.

Besides KKR, other IPL franchises are also keen on securing Dravid's services due to his extensive experience and success in Indian cricket.

Dravid opted not to continue as India's head coach due to extensive travel commitments, preferring a more manageable schedule offered by IPL franchises where he would only need to be actively involved for a few months each year.

Dravid has previously served as a mentor and coach in the IPL, notably with the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) before stepping down in 2017 due to conflict of interest issues. He has since been involved with coaching India's junior teams and served as the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

Rahul Dravid's potential move to Kolkata Knight Riders would mark a significant transition for both him and the franchise, bringing his wealth of experience and coaching acumen to the IPL stage once again.
