DC captain Rishabh Pant says he is sorry after his six led to an injury

Rishabh Pant struck an unbeaten 88 to lead Delhi Capitals to a thrilling win over Gujarat Titans on 25 April. His performance strengthened his case for selection in India's T20 World Cup squad. DC was in trouble at 44 for three in the powerplay, but Pant's heroic batting saw them post a massive 224 for four at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Axar Patel and Rishabh Pant orchestrated a crucial 113-run partnership to revive Delhi Capitals' innings. Patel played a pivotal role, contributing a quickfire 66 that propelled the Capitals to a commanding total. Despite a valiant effort from the Titans, including an explosive 55 from David Miller and a late blitz from Rashid Khan, DC managed to restrict Gujarat to 220-8 to claim a hard-fought four-run victory.

Displaying his aggressive batting style, Pant smashed his third half-century of the season. He unleashed a barrage of sixes in the final over to take Mohit Sharma for 31 runs. But one of his sixes accidentally hit a cameraman, injuring him. After the fireworks, Pant apologised to the cameraman when he realised what had happened.

Following a serious car accident in December 2022, Pant underwent an extensive recovery before returning to competitive cricket in this year's IPL. His outstanding performance in the league earned him high praise from the Delhi Capitals management, with director Sourav Ganguly and coach Ricky Ponting strongly recommending him for India's T20 World Cup squad.

Rishabh Pant currently sits third on the Orange Cap list and is the leading run-scorer for Delhi Capitals. With a remarkable strike rate of 161.32, he has already scored 342 runs in nine innings.
