Devon Conway and Finn Allen have declined the central contracts

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has been dealt a significant blow as key opening batsmen Devon Conway and Finn Allen have reportedly declined their central contracts in favour of pursuing opportunities in franchise cricket. This decision creates a significant challenge for New Zealand's white-ball setup, as rebuilding such a potent opening partnership will be difficult.

Devon Conway, who has been battling injuries and inconsistent form over the past year, will still be available for Test matches and the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy in 2025. Despite opting out of the central contract, Conway emphasised his commitment to New Zealand’s Test side and his desire to represent the country in high-stakes international competitions.
