Devon Conway, the opener for Chennai Super Kings, will be unavailable until May

New Zealand opener Devon Conway, who plays for Chennai Super Kings, will undergo surgery after damaging his left thumb during the T20 series against Australia. This will extend his absence from the New Zealand team for at least eight weeks. Conway has been a key player for the five-time champions, and his absence will be felt in IPL 2024.

Meanwhile, New Zealand fast bowler Will O’Rourke has been ruled out of the second cricket test against Australia due to a hamstring strain.

Ben Sears, who has played 13 Twenty20 internationals for New Zealand but is uncapped in Tests, has been named in the squad and is expected to play in the match starting at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Friday.

New Zealand coach Gary Stead stated that O’Rourke will be out for up to four weeks and praised Sears for his impressive performance.
