Dinesh Karthik is now ready to play for India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024

Dinesh Karthik, who had previously stated that he would not be participating in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, has reconsidered this decision. The veteran is prepared to represent India in the global tournament if selectors recall him to the side. In his conversation with Nasser Hussain, DK declined to accept the former player's suggestion that the wicket-keeper batter should be included in the World Cup squad.

Dinesh Karthik made a statement on SKY Sports:

“I am not buying anything of what you are saying. You were the one who wanted me out of the Indian team in the T20 World Cup in 2022. You were gunning for my head and was looking for Rishabh Pant.”

However, it appears that he has reconsidered his position following his impressive performance for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2024. The veteran is consistently hitting the ball a considerable distance, and his exceptional batting has been well-received. In his conversation with PTI, Dinesh confirmed that he is fully prepared to play for the country.

During the MI vs RCB match at the Wankhede Stadium, India captain Rohit Sharma also teased Ambati Rayudu about travelling with Team India for the World Cup. Rayudu, formerly of MI and CSK, has requested the selectors consider DK as he is the most effective batter in the lower order and can win games single-handedly. He is preferring Karthik over Rishabh Pant.

DK will be competing with Pant, Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul, Sanju Samson, and Jitesh Sharma for the position. The Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee is expected to announce the team in the last week of April.
