Dinesh Karthik of the Royal Challengers Bangalore was dismissed for a duck
Dinesh Karthik, who will represent Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2024 Indian Premier League, was dismissed without scoring in the DY Patil T20 Cup.
Karthik, a member of DY Patil Blue in the T20 league, was playing his first competitive match since December 2023. His previous tournament was the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he represented Tamil Nadu.
Karthik is currently working as a commentator in the ongoing five-match Test series against England.
Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan hit two sixes and five boundaries in his 28-ball 39 for DY Patil Blue, but his team ultimately lost by just one run to Tata Sports Club in the 18th edition of the T20 tournament.
Tata Sports Club batted first and scored 185 runs in 20 overs.
Blue had a good start to their chase with Abhijit Tomar and Shikhar Dhawan adding 64 runs in just 7.1 overs. Blue were bowled out for 184 in their 20 overs despite Nutan Goel remaining unbeaten on 38 off 35 balls and sharing a 58-run partnership with Shubham Dubey (42).
Dinesh Karthik, who was playing for Blue, was dismissed for a first-ball duck.
In the meantime, Dhawan will lead the Punjab Kings.
