Dravid's approach - not every player can be in top form

Rahul Dravid, the head coach of the Indian cricket team, has recently engaged in discussions with the struggling Ravindra Jadeja ahead of their match against the USA. While Jadeja's prowess across all facets of the game is well-established, his recent form in T20Is has raised concerns.

In recent years, Jadeja's performance, particularly in the IPL, has not lived up to expectations. Despite his highest run tally since 2011 for the Chennai Super Kings this year, his impact has been underwhelming. Similarly, his bowling effectiveness on flat pitches has been questioned, leading to doubts about his place in the Indian XI.

Although Jadeja was backed by the selectors for the T20 World Cup, his performances in the first two matches of the tournament have been below par. With limited opportunities to bat and marginal success with the ball, there is growing scrutiny over his role in the team.

India's preference for Axar Patel as both a batsman and bowler further complicates Jadeja's situation. However, the coaching staff, including Rahul Dravid and Vikram Rathour, are actively engaging with Jadeja to offer support and motivation.

Paras Mhambrey, the bowling coach, emphasised the team's belief in Jadeja's abilities, citing his vast experience and potential to turn things around in a single game. He also acknowledged that other players, such as Shivam Dube, are facing similar challenges.

In a long tournament like the T20 World Cup, Mhambrey stressed the importance of backing players through their highs and lows. Despite occasional setbacks, he emphasised the team's commitment to supporting each member and maintaining confidence in their abilities to contribute positively.
