ENG vs AUS: Adam Zampa's 100th ODI

Adam Zampa's 100th ODI: The Australian wrist-spinner reached a significant career milestone on Thursday, playing his 100th ODI against England. But what makes this feat particularly unique is that Zampa, at 30, has now become the first Australian cricketer in history to play 100 ODIs without having appeared in a single Test match.

Zampa's milestone match ended on a high note, as he claimed 3 wickets and helped secure a comprehensive win for Australia. He was supported by fellow spinners Travis Head, Matthew Short, and Marnus Labuschagne, who together achieved a new record for Australia. The quartet took 9 wickets in the match, surpassing the previous best Australian spin performance in an ODI—8 wickets against Pakistan in Lahore in 2022.

England Captain Harry Brook on the Loss:

"I think we executed our plans, but just couldn't get the result today. We aimed to score quickly and take wickets early, but it wasn't our day. We were on track for a big score but struggled against the spinners. The ball was gripping, and we didn’t rotate the strike as well as we should have. Hopefully, we can turn things around in the next game. Rash (Adil Rashid) bowled well, and a few of the other lads did too, so we’ll take those positives forward."

Australia Captain Mitchell Marsh on the Win:

"Yeah, very happy with the win. England started well with the bat, but we pulled it back in the last 20 overs. Credit to the spinners for that. I wish I could take credit for the game plan, but it was a team decision to slow things down, and it worked in our favour. We trust the players stepping up, and we’re looking forward to the rest of the series after this great start."
