He was supported by fellow spinners Travis Head, Matthew Short, and Marnus Labuschagne, who together achieved a new record for Australia. The quartet took 9 wickets in the match, surpassing the previous best Australian spin performance in an ODI—8 wickets against Pakistan in Lahore in 2022.

"I think we executed our plans, but just couldn't get the result today. We aimed to score quickly and take wickets early, but it wasn't our day. We were on track for a big score but struggled against the spinners. The ball was gripping, and we didn’t rotate the strike as well as we should have.
