Fans didn't see the legend Kishan's Duleep Trophy Century
Ishan Kishan’s brilliant century, scoring 111 off 126 balls with 14 fours and three sixes, went unnoticed by fans as the match wasn’t televised or streamed live by the BCCI. The lack of coverage sparked frustration among fans, who expressed their disappointment online.
The second round of the Duleep Trophy 2024 kicked off on Thursday in Anantapur, with India A facing India C, and India B taking on India D. Several key players selected for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh, including Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Shubman Gill, were rested. Initially, Kishan’s name was missing from the squad list released by the BCCI for the second round, but on Thursday, he took the field for India C, batting at No. 4 and delivering a stunning century.
Despite Kishan’s performance, the match was neither televised nor streamed by the BCCI, unlike the India A vs. India D match, which had full coverage. Fans were frustrated at being unable to witness Kishan’s explosive innings against the India B bowlers and criticised the BCCI for the blackout.
Kishan missed the first-round match due to an injury and was initially a part of the India D squad, later replaced by Sanju Samson. His recent absence from the national team, following personal reasons during India’s tour of South Africa last year, has added to the scrutiny surrounding his career. Once considered one of the most aggressive wicketkeeper-batters, Kishan’s reluctance to play domestic cricket was believed to have contributed to his exclusion from international selections. However, his inclusion in the Duleep Trophy was seen as a positive step toward a potential return.
