KL Rahul's Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will take on Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals (DC) in Match 26 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The match will be played at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Friday, 12 April.
The two teams have met three times since the Lucknow franchise was launched in the IPL 2022. It is interesting to note that DC are yet to open their account against LSG in the tournament. In their last meeting, the Super Giants beat the Capitals by 50 runs at the same venue last year.
Asked to bat first, LSG posted 193/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Lucknow got off to a bad start when Chetan Sakariya dismissed skipper Rahul for single figures. Kyle Mayers then starred with the bat, scoring 73 runs off just 38 balls in an innings that featured seven sixes and two boundaries. He kept the scoreboard ticking. Wickets continued to fall at the other end.
The late spark came from Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni. Pooran scored 36 off 21 deliveries, including three sixes and two boundaries, while Badoni chipped in with an unbeaten 18 off seven deliveries.
Khaleel Ahmed and Chetan Sakariya were the pick of the bowlers for LSG, taking two wickets apiece. Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav took one wicket each.

Lucknow Super Giants beat Gujarat Titans by 33 runs in their last IPL match at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on 7 April.
Asked to bat first, LSG posted 163/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Umesh Yadav reduced the Super Giants to 18/2 by sending back Quinton de Kock and Devdutt Padikkal. A 73-run partnership for the second wicket was shared by Marcus Stoinis and skipper Rahul. Stoinis top-scored with a 43-ball 58, which included two sixes and four boundaries. Rahul chipped in with 33 off 31, hitting three boundaries.
Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni also made valuable contributions with 32*(22) and 20(11) respectively. Umesh Yadav and Darshan Nalkande took two wickets each for GT, while Rashid Khan took a wicket.
In reply, Gujarat were bundled out for 130 in 18.5 overs. Sai Sudharsan (31 off 23) and Shubman Gill (19 off 21) made a promising start. They shared a 54-run stand in the powerplay overs.
The Titans continued to lose wickets at regular intervals. Rahul Tewatia didn't get enough support at the other end, scoring 30 off 35, hitting two sixes and as many boundaries.
Yash Thakur delivered with the ball for LSG, finishing with impressive figures of 5/30, while Krunal Pandya took two wickets. A wicket apiece was also shared by Naveen-ul-Haq and Ravi Bishnoi.
Last IPL match scorecard for DC
Delhi Capitals lost by 29 runs to Mumbai Indians in their last IPL match at Wankhede Stadium on 7 April.
Asked to bat first, MI posted 234/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan got the innings off to a perfect start with an 80-run partnership for the opening wicket.
Sharma scored 49 off 27 deliveries, hitting three sixes and six boundaries. Kishan also contributed with a quickfire 42 off 21 deliveries, including two maximums and four boundaries.
Axar Patel broke the opening partnership before Anrich Nortje sent Suryakumar Yadav back to the crease for a golden duck. Axar and Khaleel Ahmed soon removed Kishan and Tilak Varma to reduce MI to 121/4.
Tim David and skipper Hardik Pandya added 60 runs for the fifth wicket. David remained unbeaten on 45 off 21, hitting four sixes and two boundaries. Pandya added 39 off 33. He was helped by a six and three boundaries.
Romario Shephard finished the innings with a knock of 39 runs off just 10 deliveries. In the 20th over, the right-handed West Indies all-rounder attacked Nortje for 32 runs. Axar Patel and Anrich Nortje took two wickets each for the Capitals, while Khaleel Ahmed took one wicket.
Delhi responded by posting 205/8. Prithvi Shaw and Abishek Porel stood tall as Shephard sent back David Warner for just 10 off 8. The duo put on an 88-run partnership for the second wicket. Shaw smashed a quickfire 66 off 40, hitting three sixes and eight boundaries. Porel contributed 41 off 31, including five boundaries.
Tristan Stubbs was spectacular with an unbeaten 71 off 25. His innings was peppered with seven maximums and three boundaries. However, DC continued to lose wickets at the other end to fall behind in the match.
Gerald Coetzee was Mumbai's star performer with the ball, finishing with figures of 4/34. Jasprit Bumrah took one wicket.
