Former Indian cricketer Sehwag praised Kohli and Sharma

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag took to Twitter on June 30 to commend Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for their immense contributions to the Indian cricket team, especially in the T20 format. Both Kohli and Sharma announced their retirement from T20 Internationals after leading India to victory in the T20 World Cup final.

In his heartfelt tribute, Sehwag highlighted the significant impact these two legends have had on the team's culture and performance. He praised Kohli as the "best T20 World Cup batsman ever," noting his ability to single-handedly win games in difficult situations, particularly in the 2014, 2016, and 2022 World Cups. Sehwag admired Kohli's approach to the game, which he described as reflecting the "grace of a Guru." Sehwag wished Kohli continued success in the other formats of the game.

"What to say about Virat the T20 World Cup batsman. By far the best T20 World Cup batsman ever, carried the team in 2014 and 2016 single-handedly winning games from difficult situations, in 2022 Melbourne will be in the folklore of our T20 history and yesterday in the finals showing his class again. More than the runs, what has been most impressive has been his approach which is reflected in what he says, attributing so much to something larger than himself, which I believe is the grace of a Guru. His T20 career comes to a stellar end and I pray that May the Grace be upon him, and he continues to set high standards in the other two formats," Sehwag wrote about Virat Kohli.

Sehwag also praised Rohit Sharma, who has played in all nine T20 World Cups, for his transformation into a more attacking player over the past year. He highlighted how Rohit's leadership has created a caring atmosphere within the team, contributing to their success. Sehwag expressed pride in Rohit's achievements and wished him the best for the future.

"Rohit, the only player who has played all 9 T20 World Cups, has been extremely impressed by the way he had transformed his game into a more attacking one in the last year or so and created a caring atmosphere within the team. It has been much needed and has also brought about results. Very proud of how you have held yourself and wish you the best in the times ahead," Sehwag added to Rohit Sharma in the same tweet.

Sehwag's tribute underscores the immense respect and admiration these two cricketing giants have earned for their dedication, skill, and leadership. Their contributions to the Indian cricket team have been instrumental in shaping the team's culture and achieving success on the global stage.
