“MI made a mistake by sacking Rohit from captaincy”
The decision to remove Rohit Sharma from the captaincy of Mumbai Indians is still receiving attention months later. Harbhajan Singh, a former India and MI player, disapproves of the change and believes that Rohit should have continued to lead the franchise for another season.
Harbhajan said on News24 Sports:
“Rohit should have led Mumbai in IPL 2024. I know the franchise must have spoken to him, but I don’t know how happy he is with his removal. I didn’t talk to him. Rohit is a champion player and he doesn’t need to prove himself to anyone.”
Rohit's wife, Ritika Sajdeh, expressed her dissatisfaction with the way the franchise treated her husband. She openly criticized MI head coach Mark Boucher for his statement regarding Rohit's removal during an interview.
Former player Ambati Rayudu suggested that Rohit should join Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025 and lead the side if MS Dhoni retires from the tournament after the upcoming season.
