Gary Kirsten Leaving Pakistan Coaching Role

Gary Kirsten's tenure as Pakistan's white-ball cricket coach is reportedly nearing its end, just four months after his appointment. Known for leading India to win the 2011 ODI World Cup, Kirsten's brief period with the Pakistan team has been marked by significant upheaval, including the fluctuating captaincy of Babar Azam and changes within the selection committee.

Tensions have arisen between Kirsten and the players in recent weeks. Although it appears the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) did not directly push him out, Kirsten’s disappointment grew after his proposal to bring in David Reid as a High-Performance coach was rejected, with the PCB suggesting other candidates instead.

While no official announcement has been made regarding his departure, speculation about his successor is mounting. Jason Gillespie, the current red-ball coach, is seen as a strong contender. Another potential candidate is Aaqib Javed, a former player and member of the selection committee, who has contributed to the team’s recent success against England.

As the PCB prepares for the upcoming white-ball series against Australia and Zimbabwe, it has been indicated that Kirsten will not be travelling with the team. The situation remains fluid, and an official decision regarding Kirsten’s future with the national squad could be expected soon.
