Gambhir emphasised the bond between himself and Kolkata, calling it a story and a team that has achieved success together. After leading the Kolkata Knight Riders to IPL triumphs in 2012 and 2014 as captain, he helped them achieve their third title as a mentor in 2024.

Gambhir took over as head coach from Rahul Dravid, who stepped down after India's T20 World Cup win. He expressed his commitment to making every Indian proud and working towards fulfilling the dreams of 1.4 billion people.
