Gavaskar compared Dhruv Jurel to MS Dhoni for his exceptional batting and wicket-keeping skills

Sunil Gavaskar praised Dhruv Jurel after the Indian wicket-keeper batter scored 90 runs in the first innings of the fourth Test against England. Gavaskar believes Jurel has the potential to become the next MS Dhoni. Jurel rescued India from a challenging total in Ranchi, scoring 46 in his debut innings in Rajkot.

He hit six fours and four sixes in his 90 runs before being dismissed.

Gavaskar said on JioCinema:

“Dhruv Jurel makes me think that he is the next MS Dhoni. He batted smartly and kept the England bowlers on their toes.”

Gavaskar also highlighted his role in running out Ben Duckett in Rajkot. Although he acknowledged that the throw was not ideal, he praised Jurel's presence of mind in completing the runout.

Jurel made valuable contributions alongside Kuldeep Yadav and Akash Deep to rescue the Indian team from a difficult situation.

Jurel came to bat when India were struggling at 177 for 7. Dhruv and Kuldeep then took the score to 219/9 at stumps on Day 2, with both players helping India surpass the 250-run mark.

James Anderson dismissed Kuldeep on a score of 28 runs, ending their partnership. Kuldeep and Dhruv contributed 76 runs, while Akash and the wicket-keeper added 40 runs. Shoaib Bashir took five wickets, with Tom Hartley taking three and senior pacer Anderson adding two to his bowling figures.
