Fans and former players have reacted to the interaction between KL Rahul and Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka after the team's humiliating defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday. LSG had to face the wrath of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma after the opening pair wrapped up the chase in just 9.4 overs.
Goenka was furious with Rahul after the match as LSG lost by 10 wickets. Videos of their exchange went viral on social media and the LSG owner was slammed for his shocking behaviour.
Fans claimed Goenka should have waited to speak to the Lucknow captain. Mike Hesson and Graeme Smith echoed similar sentiments.
Hesson said on Jio Cinema:
“He’s just onto him. As he expresses his worries, KL responds, ‘Hold on, we’re not quite sure what you’re asking us to do.’ It was evident that LSG was playing a more cautious style of cricket while SRH was dominating the field from the first ball. Without a doubt, there was a noticeable difference between it and the way Sunrisers play. He is conveying his dissatisfaction.”
Although Graeme Smith thought the owner was "passionate", there was a time and place for such discussions. He also expressed sympathy for Rahul, pointing out that the LSG captain would find it difficult to answer questions in his interview with Goenka.
