In the final two overs of the Delhi Capitals innings, Shubman Gill made an error that proved costly. The 19th and 20th overs yielded 53 runs, a deficit that Mohammad Kaif and Navjot Singh Sidhu attributed to Gill's misstep. Sandeep Warrier, the most effective bowler for the Gujarat Titans, was not permitted to deliver his fourth over by Gill. In contrast, Sai Kishore, the Player of the Match in the previous game, was brought in to bowl the 19th over of the game.
Kishore conceded 21 runs, with Tristan Stubbs hitting him for 2 sixes and as many fours. Instead of bringing Warrier for the last over, the GT skipper handed the ball to Mohit Sharma. Rishabh Pant slammed him for 31 runs, including four sixes and one four.
Rishabh was unbeaten on 88 runs, with Delhi winning the game by four runs.
Navjot Singh Sidhu made a statement on Star Sports:
“Shubman Gill will not sleep today. Sandeep Warrier, who took the wickets of the three top-order batters, was given just three overs. He conceded 15 runs. Gujarat lost the game in the last two overs. It was the biggest mistake committed by Gill.”
Earlier, Axar Patel scored 66 runs as Delhi reached 224/4 in 20 overs. Gujarat's Sai Sudharsan (65), David Miller (55), and Rashid Khan (21 not out) all performed well, but the team fell short by 4 runs.
