Harbhajan Singh suggests resting a player from Delhi Capitals
Delhi Capitals won their second game of the 17th season of the Indian Premier League 2024, defeating Lucknow Super Giants by 6 wickets. Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets, dismissing Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran, and KL Rahul. Chasing a target of 168, Delhi lost David Warner early in the innings after he scored 8 runs off 9 balls.
Prithvi Shaw scored 32 runs off 22 balls, Jake Fraser-McGurk scored 55 runs off 35 balls, and Rishabh Pant scored 41 runs off 34 balls to secure a win for their team. The form of Warner is a cause for concern. Even though he is scoring runs, his strike rate is not up to the mark. Former India player Harbhajan Singh suggested that the management should rest the legendary batter and play someone who can win matches:
“I respect David Warner a lot, but he has been off-colour for the last two or three years. The runs are coming at a low strike rate, and the number of failures is increasing. He is no more of an aggressive batter, and this is what we saw when he played for Australia in recent times.”
In 182 IPL matches, the left-handed batsman has scored 6563 runs at an average of 41.02 and a strike rate of 139.88. He has also scored four centuries and 62 half-centuries.
