Imad Wasim is out for the future game between PAK and the USA

Pakistan's preparations for their T20 World Cup 2024 opener against the United States of America (USA) have hit a snag with the news of all-rounder Imad Wasim's injury. Wasim will be side-lined for the PAK vs USA match scheduled for Thursday (June 6) at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.

"Imad Wasim will not be available for selection for Thursday’s match as he has been advised rest by the PCB Medical Team," stated the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The absence of the left-arm spin all-rounder, who is in prime form, is a significant setback for Pakistan. Wasim sustained a side strain, which kept him out of Pakistan's fourth T20I match on May 30. In light of his discomfort in the right rib cage, he has opted out of the crucial clash against the USA, with an eye on Pakistan's upcoming showdown against arch-rivals India on Sunday (June 9) in New York.

Pakistan, placed in Group A for the T20 World Cup 2024 group stage, will face India, Canada, USA, and Ireland in their campaign.
