India Set to Face NZ in Tough T20 World Cup 2024 Opener

India will kick off their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 campaign against New Zealand in Dubai on Friday. Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, Team India faces a challenging start in Group A, which has been labelled the "group of death." Both teams are searching for their first T20 World Cup title and have experienced similar journeys in the competition’s history.

New Zealand, the White Ferns, were runners-up in the first two editions of the tournament in 2009 and 2010 but haven't reached the semi-finals since 2016. India, meanwhile, were runners-up in 2020 and made it to the semi-finals in 2023.

In terms of head-to-head statistics, India has struggled against New Zealand in women’s T20Is, winning only four out of their 13 encounters. The White Ferns have emerged victorious in four of the last five meetings, including their most recent clash in 2022.T20 World Cup Record:
