India team having fun before the match
Ahead of their clash against the USA, the Indian cricket squad enjoyed a light-hearted fielding drill session at the Big Apple. Set to compete in their first-ever Group A match against the hosts on June 12 at the Nassau County Cricket International Stadium in New York, the team engaged in a special practice captured in a video posted by the BCCI on their official website. Divided into three teams and led by fielding coach T Dilip, the players focused on acing run-outs in a jovial atmosphere.
In the spirited session, Rohit Sharma, Mohammad Siraj, Axar Patel, Rishabh Pant, and Kuldeep Yadav formed one team, while Ravindra Jadeja, Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson, Jasprit Bumrah, and Arshdeep Singh comprised another. Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Shivam Dube made up the third team.
With each team allotted 15 balls to hit six targets, the fielding coach motivated the players to aim for perfection. Kohli and Suryakumar displayed pinpoint accuracy, securing victory for Kohli's team with impressive throws from Jaiswal and Dube.
The session not only showcased the players' agility but also highlighted their camaraderie. Sitting atop Group A with two consecutive wins against Ireland and Pakistan, India aimed to secure their spot in the Super 8 stage with a victory over the USA. However, the rejuvenated USA team, having clinched two consecutive wins, including a thrilling Super Over triumph against Pakistan, posed a formidable challenge.
