India vs Bangladesh: Second Test Preview at Green Park Amid Rain Challenges

The second and final Test of the India vs Bangladesh 2024 series is set to begin on Friday (September 27) at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, a crucial match for India’s World Test Championship (WTC) campaign. After a commanding 208-run victory in Chennai, India is aiming for a 2-0 series sweep, but the weather may present a significant challenge.

Rain is predicted to play spoilsport, with AccuWeather forecasting a 90% chance of rain and thunderstorms on Day 1. Conditions remain grim for the weekend, with rain probabilities exceeding 80% on Saturday and over 50% on Sunday. Though the weather is expected to improve for the final two days, significant time lost during the early stages could affect the possibility of either side securing a result, much to India's disappointment.

This Test holds great importance for India in the context of the WTC, as they seek to maintain their top spot in the standings and strengthen their chances of reaching the WTC Final for the third consecutive time. After this series, India will host New Zealand for three Tests before heading to Australia for a five-match Border-Gavaskar series, all pivotal in their WTC journey.

BCCI Confirms Unchanged Squad for 2nd Test

India has retained the same squad for the second Test, but captain Rohit Sharma may opt for an additional spinner given Kanpur's spin-friendly conditions. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja spearheaded the spin attack in Chennai, but the conditions in Kanpur could see the inclusion of either Axar Patel or Kuldeep Yadav as a third spinner, potentially replacing a fast bowler like Mohammad Siraj or Akash Deep.

India Squad for 2nd Test: Rohit Sharma (captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Dhruv Jurel (wicketkeeper), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammad Siraj, Akash Deep, Jasprit Bumrah, Yash Dayal.
