Indian Team’s practice cancelled due to rain

India's practice session ahead of their inconsequential T20 World Cup group match against Canada was cancelled due to persistent rain in Florida, according to reports. Despite securing their spot in the Super Eight stage with wins over Ireland, Pakistan, and the USA, India's preparations were hampered by adverse weather conditions.

Led by Rohit Sharma, India has maintained an undefeated streak in the T20 World Cup so far. Following victories in their opening matches at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, India moved to Florida for their final Group A encounter against Canada. However, with rain disrupting their practice session on Friday, concerns arose over the possibility of their match against Canada being affected as well.

Recent weather patterns in Florida have been unfavourable for cricket, with the match between Nepal and Sri Lanka on June 12 already washed out without a ball being bowled.

The rain-induced uncertainty poses a challenge for India, particularly regarding Virat Kohli's form. Kohli, who has struggled with scores of just five runs in three innings, including a golden duck, would have benefited from additional practice or game time ahead of the crucial Super Eight stage in Barbados, beginning on June 20.

In Group A, the impact of rain extends beyond India's match, affecting the standings of teams vying for Super Eight berths. The USA, positioned second in the group, would advance alongside India if their match against Ireland ended in a washout. Pakistan, currently third, relies on Ireland defeating the USA before facing the co-hosts in their final group match on Sunday.

Ireland, with an outside chance, could still qualify by defeating the USA and improving their net run rate significantly. Meanwhile, Canada's hopes hinge on defeating India and favourable outcomes in other matches to secure their progression to the next round.
