Infamous fight during the IPL between Gautam and Kohli

Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli have put their past differences behind them, as Gambhir has been appointed as the new head coach of the Indian men's cricket team. However, a fresh revelation has come to light about their infamous fight during the IPL 2023 match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

In an interview with Shubhbankar Mishra on his YouTube show 'Unplugged', veteran India cricketer Amit Mishra disclosed that the altercation began when Gambhir, then the mentor of LSG, made a gesture at the crowd to quiet down after a match victory. This gesture did not sit well with Kohli, and during the rematch in Lucknow, Kohli began abusing LSG players, including Kyle Myers and Naveen-ul-Haq.

According to Amit, Kohli's behaviour continued even during the match, to the point where he was verbally attacking Naveen-ul-Haq. When Amit tried to intervene, Kohli asked him to explain the situation to Naveen instead. The situation escalated after the match ended, with Kohli continuing his abuses during the post-match handshakes.

Amit highlighted the importance of respecting junior players, citing examples of Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni. He mentioned how even after being hit by a beamer from Brett Lee, Sachin remained calm and earned respect from Lee for his composure. Amit emphasised the need for aggression to be balanced with respect and dignity, highlighting the professionalism displayed by legends like Tendulkar and Dhoni.
