The 17th season of the Indian Premier League has seen a surge in team totals. The batsmen are going for big shots in the death overs. MS Dhoni, the former captain of Chennai Super Kings, has been going after the bowlers in the death overs. Though MSD comes out to bat for a few deliveries, he is giving the opposition teams problems.
The fast bowlers find it difficult to maintain their line and length and often bowl wide under pressure. In the last match between CSK and PBKS, Arshdeep Singh conceded a lot of extra runs.
Former India captain Ajay Jadeja spoke about Dhoni's presence at the crease:
“The fast bowlers start sweating when they see MS Dhoni coming out of the dressing room to face them. His presence is enough to put them under pressure, and they end up bowling loose balls.”
Dhoni is free to play in the 2024 IPL after relinquishing the captaincy before the season began. He handed over the captain's armband to Ruturaj Gaikwad.
