Former India player Irfan Pathan has revealed the Team India squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The tournament will be played in the West Indies and the USA. The Men in Blue won the title in the inaugural edition in 2007, but since then, there have been a number of unsuccessful attempts. Pathan’s team is on the expected lines, barring two spots.
Rishabh Pant is gradually regaining his best form, but Sanju Samson is currently a more suitable option than him. The Rajasthan Royals captain has recorded superior numbers across all departments. Additionally, Yuzvendra Chahal is significantly more proficient than Ravi Bishnoi in terms of wicket-taking abilities. The former India all-rounder has named Pant as the main wicket-keeper, with Chahal and Bishnoi competing for the second spinner’s position. Irfan will open with Jaiswal and Sharma, with Kohli placed in the third spot. Yadav, Rishabh, and Dube will occupy the next three spots. Pandya’s selection will depend on his bowling.
Rinku Singh, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Mohammed Siraj are guaranteed selections. The 14th and 15th spots are currently under consideration between Ravi Bishnoi and Yuzvendra Chahal, and Sanju Samson and Shubman Gill.
Notable absentees include Ishan Kishan, Avesh Khan, and Shreyas Iyer.
