Ishan Kishan, the star wicketkeeper-batsman of Team India, has recently made headlines despite being out of action for some time.
He took a break from international cricket due to mental fatigue and has not been available for selection since then.
However, Ishan Kishan was recently seen practising in Baroda with his Mumbai Indian skipper, Hardik Pandya. As a result, the Cricket Board has made it compulsory for players who are not currently selected for India’s squad to play domestic cricket.
Despite this, Jharkhand were ready to face Rajasthan in their next Ranji Trophy encounter. However, Ishan Kishan was left out of the starting XI.
A few days ago, the BCCI secretary stated that it is mandatory for players to participate in domestic cricket if they are not selected for international cricket or if they are not injured. Shah also mentioned that the selection committee would be given a free hand to do as they please.
India's middle-order batsmen Shreyas Iyer and Deepak Chahar have also made themselves unavailable for selection along with Ishan Kishan.
In Ishan's absence, young wicketkeeper Kumar Kushagra has been keeping wickets for his state team in the ongoing Ranji season.
It will be interesting to see what steps the BCCI or the selectors take to restore order. Young players seem to be more focused on playing in the IPL than in first-class cricket.
