Ishan Kishan still not playing in Ranji Trophy

Despite being specifically told to play first-class cricket, Deepak Chahar and Shreyas Iyer also were missing in action.

Ishan Kishan did not participate in the final round of Ranji Trophy matches that began on Friday.

Deepak Chahar and Shreyas Iyer were also absent. Iyer was experiencing lower back and groin issues. Kishan, a wicketkeeper-batsman who plays domestic cricket for Jharkhand, was instructed to play for his state team in first-class cricket.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah was recently asked about centrally contracted players missing domestic tournaments. Shah stated that all fit centrally contracted players must make themselves available for selection in domestic cricket.

He emphasized that no excuses would be entertained and that this applies to all centrally contracted players. Shah also stated that the player cannot decide their future; the selectors need to make that decision. If the player is skilled in red-ball cricket, he should play.

In Kishan's absence, Kumar Kushagra continued to perform wicketkeeping duties for Jharkhand. Jharkhand has only won one match and earned ten points from six matches so far.

Kishan, who requested a break during India's South Africa tour, has been training in Baroda with his new Mumbai Indians captain, Hardik Pandya.

Mumbai, Iyer's domestic team, has already qualified for the quarter-finals. They are currently playing Rajasthan at home. They are playing their final league match against Assam, also at home.
