India's star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has regained the No. 1 position in the ICC Test bowling rankings, achieving a career-high rating of 883 points. This milestone comes after his match-winning performance of 8 for 72 against Australia in Perth. In the same game, Yashasvi Jaiswal climbed to a career-best No. 2 in the Test batting rankings, following his impressive 161-run knock in the second innings.
Bumrah’s 5 for 30 in Australia’s first innings, which bundled them out for just 104, propelled him past South Africa's Kagiso Rabada and Australia's Josh Hazlewood. Earlier this year, Bumrah had topped the rankings after a nine-wicket haul against England, and he briefly reclaimed the spot during the Bangladesh series in October, before being overtaken by Rabada.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj, another key bowler for India, moved up three spots to 25th in the bowlers' rankings after claiming five wickets in the same Test. On the batting side, Jaiswal’s rise saw him surpass Kane Williamson of New Zealand and Harry Brook of England. His new career-best rating of 825 points places him just 78 points behind top-ranked Joe Root.
Australia's Travis Head also climbed the charts, securing the No. 10 spot among batters after scoring 89 in the second innings at Perth. Virat Kohli made significant strides as well, leaping nine places to 13th after hitting his 30th Test century.
Elsewhere, the West Indies fast-bowling trio of Jayden Seales, Kemar Roach, and Alzarri Joseph made notable gains after their dominant display in the first Test against Bangladesh in Antigua. Seales, with figures of 5 for 87, climbed to 11th, Roach moved to 17th with his 4 for 50, and Joseph rose to 29th after picking up 5 for 101. Their efforts secured a commanding 201-run victory for the West Indies.
In the all-rounders' rankings, Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz rose to No. 3 after his solid all-around contributions in the same game, scoring 23 and 45 with the bat and taking 4 for 130 with the ball. Despite not featuring in the Perth Test, India’s Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin retained their top spots in the allrounders' rankings.
These updates reflect a dynamic shift in the cricketing world, with standout performances shaping the ICC rankings.
