Jasprit Bumrah’s opinion about the game
Following India's thrilling six-run victory over Pakistan in their ICC T20 World Cup clash, Jasprit Bumrah shared insights into his passion for bowling and the challenges of playing on bowling-friendly pitches. Bumrah's exceptional three-wicket haul and a resilient knock by Rishabh Pant secured the win for India at the Nassau County Stadium, keeping their World Cup hopes alive.
In the post-match press conference, Bumrah expressed satisfaction with the recognition received by the bowlers, emphasising India's reputation as a batsman-centric country. Despite the recent IPL being dominated by batsmen, Bumrah emphasised his preference for a balanced contest between bat and ball, stating, "When it is bat vs bat, I switch off the TV."
Reflecting on the match strategy, Bumrah highlighted the importance of maintaining control over run flow and seeking wickets strategically, especially in challenging conditions. India aimed to capitalise on favourable conditions and utilise the large boundaries to their advantage.
Addressing his journey from injury setbacks to delivering stellar performances across formats, Bumrah credited his focus on the present and controlling the controllable for his success. He emphasised the importance of tuning out external pressures and staying focused on his role as a bowler.
Bumrah also acknowledged the overwhelming support from fans, particularly the Indian and Asian crowd at the Nassau County Stadium, which provided a home-like atmosphere for the team.
Despite India's disappointment with their batting performance, Bumrah identified his crucial third over, which saw the dismissal of Mohammed Rizwan, as the turning point of the game. Pakistan's measured chase fell short as Bumrah and Hardik Pandya's crucial wickets kept the pressure on, ultimately securing India's victory.
With this win, India leads Group A with two victories, while Pakistan's hopes for the knockout stage appear slim after consecutive losses to the USA and India.
