Jaydev in 2nd County season

Jaydev Unadkat has rejoined Sussex for the 2024 County Championship, marking his second consecutive season with the team. The Indian left-arm pacer will be part of Sussex's final five matches in the season, alongside his fellow teammate Cheteshwar Pujara. Unadkat expressed his excitement about returning to Hove, referring to it as his "second home." He aims to contribute to the team's efforts to secure a promotion back to Division One, noting the impressive performances Sussex has shown thus far.

In his previous stint with Sussex during the 2023 season, Unadkat had a significant impact, taking 11 wickets at an average of 24.18 and helping the team finish third in Division 2. His outstanding performance included a six-wicket haul against Leicestershire, showcasing his skill even while dealing with an ankle injury.

Sussex Head Coach Paul Farbrace praised Unadkat for both his on-field performances and his supportive presence in the team, emphasising the player's dedication to mentoring others and sharing his knowledge. Unadkat, who also led Saurashtra to their first Ranji Trophy title in the 2019-20 season, is eager to start this season and continue building his legacy in county cricket.
