Joseph acknowledged Anderson's greatness

West Indies' pace sensation Shamar Joseph has expressed his desire to spoil James Anderson's farewell match when England and West Indies face off in the first Test at Lord's, starting July 10. Anderson, who will retire after this match, is the leading wicket-taker among pacers in the history of Test cricket.

Joseph acknowledged Anderson's greatness, describing him as an amazing player and someone he has looked up to. He praised Anderson for his outstanding career and significant wicket tally. Despite his respect for Anderson, Joseph emphasised his desire to 'ruin' Anderson's farewell match, indicating his competitive spirit and determination to perform well.

Joseph expressed his excitement about playing in England, a place known for its favourable conditions for fast bowlers. He mentioned his admiration for the great fast bowlers who have succeeded at Lord's, such as Jofra Archer and Mitchell Starc. Joseph shared his memories of watching iconic matches at Lord's, particularly the Ashes series, and his aspiration to perform well at the historic ground.

Reflecting on West Indies' recent successful tour of Australia, Joseph emphasised the importance of maintaining the same energy and mindset to compete effectively against England. The upcoming three-match Test series between England and West Indies will be significant, not only because of Anderson's retirement, but also due to the competitive spirit both teams are expected to bring to the series. Joseph's comments highlight the respect and rivalry that characterise such high-stakes matches.
