Khan's memories of Bumrah and Sharma

Pakistan-born fast bowler Zahoor Khan, who now represents the UAE cricket team, was part of the Mumbai Indians' set-up as a net bowler in 2014. Though he never played in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Zahoor had the chance to bowl against some of the biggest names in world cricket while with the franchise. In a recent interview, Zahoor shared his experiences, including moments with Jasprit Bumrah and Rohit Sharma.

Zahoor revealed that Bumrah, one of the world's top bowlers, was particularly impressed by his slower delivery and even asked him about his grip.

"I was with Mumbai Indians for three months and got to spend time with Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah liked me so much that he asked, ‘How do you bowl that slower ball?’ That was a huge moment for me, as he is the world's No. 1 bowler. He even watched my performance in a T10 tournament where I bowled a maiden. I asked him how he manages to bowl yorkers with the new ball—something only Lasith Malinga and Bumrah can do," Zahoor told Sports Tak.

Zahoor also reminisced about bowling to Rohit Sharma in the nets, claiming that the Indian skipper struggled with his slower ball.

"I bowled a slower delivery to Rohit, and he just kept staring at it because it barely reached him. He couldn’t pick my slower ball and said, ‘Even if the batter picks your delivery, it’ll never result in a six.’ That was high praise from someone like him."

He also spoke about Rohit's leadership qualities and how approachable both Rohit and Bumrah were during his time with Mumbai Indians.

"Rohit is a legend, not just because of his cricket, but the way he carries himself. He would eat with the same guys who carried our luggage. As for Bumrah, he is a superstar. Despite his year-long injury, look at what he has accomplished since his return. He’s proven he’s back, and beyond that, he’s a wonderful human being," Zahoor added.
